Tim (ex-owner of the Pug that burned - see here) has kindly summarized the changes to this years 206 spec he's observed on his new car.
Multi Function Display
The 'multi-function' display in the centre of the dash now lives up to its name - it displays
stereo, trip computer and some system information as well as the date and outside temperature.
Trip Computer
Car now has a simple 'trip computer' which uses the multi-function display, and is controlled
by a button on the end of the wiper stalk.
You can cycle through a few different data readouts - 'current' (avg over last 2 secs) fuel
consumption, average fuel consumption (since computer last zeroed), Km travelled (since
computer last zeroed), average speed (since computer last zeroed), and estimated distance before
you run out of fuel.
Stereo
At last the old Eurovox is gone! The new head unit has no logo, but may be a Clarion. It has
no display, but uses the multi-function display in the centre of the dash. Works correctly with
new audio stalk (a major improvement on the Eurovox) and seems to provide better audio quality.
Also incorporates an 'auto volume adjustment' function, which will increase volume as road speed
increases in order to compensate for increased road noise.
Oil Level Indicator
The 'display oil level' function at startup is still there, but it now uses
the odometer LED segments instead of the oil temp gauge.
Auto Headlights
There is a new 'auto headlights' function, which seems to use the same
sensors as the auto-wipers. This is supposed to turn the headlights on or off
depending on ambient light levels. Can be disabled.
Steering column stalks
All-new stalks, apparently from 307. Audio stalk is wildly different, with two push buttons for
volume, two for track change/frequency scan, and an integrated knob for selecting preset radio stations.
Headlight stalk is functionally similar (although fog lamp activation is different) but looks quite different.
Wiper stalk is functionally similar but looks different. Now has button on end of stalk which controls trip
computer.
Central Locking
The remote for the central locking now has two buttons - one to lock, one to unlock. This may help avoid the
problem of accidentally locking and unlocking in one actions, which used to cause problems.
Passenger Seat
Passenger seat now has height adjustment.
