| The following instructions, in only 4 easy steps are regarding getting
rid of that irritating buzzing sound generated by the engine cover after 3000
km from new. The buzz comes up at about 2800 revs, where the engine shakes at such
a rate that the cover starts resonating against the camshaft cover underneath
it.   The remedy is simple and doesn’t cost a thing! All you need is a side cutter, a knife and a short piece of electro
wire, preferably a 4 qmm with a Ø 3 mm isolation.    Click on the images to enlarge.

 | 1.
    Release the
six screws situated on top of the engine cover, by turning them 90 degrees. Take of the engine cover and turn it around its
front edge, so the underside is facing you, with the filler hole on your right.    |
    |   | 2.
    Strip off
three 10 mm pieces of isolation of the wire and cut them lengthwise, so
    you’ll end up with a C.   |
    |
 | 3.
    Put the first
one on the rim of the filler hole. See picture. |
    |   |   |
    |
 | 4.
    Put the
second one three ribs to the right of the filler hole, in the middle
between the two longitude ribs. See the picture. |
    |   |   |
    |
 | 5.
    Put the third
one left of the cut-out where normally the lift eye comes through. Put it
approx. 15 mm from the edge of the cut-out. If necessary you can glue them
to the cover using Super-glue.   |
    |   |   |
    |   | 6.
    Put
eventually the screws back into the east-west direction, put the cover back
on the engine and tighten the screws by turning then 90 degrees again. |
    |   |   |
    |   | 7.
    Now start the
engine and be astounded of the silence… |      Van    © 2003-02-11, The Peugeot 206 GTi page. http://206gti.net      |
