This is just to let you know how our cruise went today in Melbourne. While it wasn't officially a Peugeot cruise, we did have two 206GTi's (thanks Sami and Stephen), as well as two Clio Sports, an RX7 twin-turbo, a WRX, and a new Astra Turbo (see attached group photo). It was an interesting mix of seven sporty cars, with quite similar abilities on these roads. Neither of the HSVs turned up, but it was probably just as well because we didn't want any cars becoming part of the scenery!
While it didn't rain at all, the roads between Warburton and Marysville were quite damp, with bits of slippery bark thrown in just to add a bit of excitement.
Sami was off like a bullet at the start, and it wasn't until he got held up by a campervan that we all caught up again. Fortunately, the campervan promptly pulled over and let us all past, and we were all on our way again. This time I wasn't going to let Sami get away so easily, and managed to stay with him until we got to Marysville. The Astra and other cars started to fall back a bit, but the drivers didn't know the roads that well.
The driver of the RX7 found that he had to go harder than he'd driven before in order to keep up, but said the car handled the conditions well, with a neutral handling balance. However, he admitted to being a nervous wreck by the time we got to Marysville!
After a pleasant lunch in a Marysville cafe, we headed back to Healesville via the Black Spur. Of course there was heaps of traffic on the spur (as usual) and it was quite slippery (as usual), so we took it a bit easier through there.
Overall, a great time was had by everyone and we are looking forward to doing something like this again (when it gets a bit dryer!).
Cheers,
Clio Dave
