Well, we successfully ran a Sydney Drive Day today (finally) and we
had 5 cars turn up. Damian Rosenthal, Frank, Phil, Delan
(eventually) and myself. We managed to arrange it on a 40 degree
scorcher, but at least it was nice and sunny. Here are some photos.
We met up at Turramurra Station, and then headed north up the old
Pacific Hwy to the Peats Ridge turnoff. We then wound our way down
the north side of the Hawkesbury River to Wisemans Ferry, where we
had lunch at the local pub. Here we finally met up with Delan, who
started out a bit later than the rest of us but eventually found us.
After lunch we had a bit of a photo shoot and everyone had a go at
trying out the QS kit that I had installed a few months ago. From
there we headed back to Sydney through Galston Gorge.
Competing traffic was pretty scarce for a Sunday and it was good to
be out cruising along in a convoy of Pugs. I've never had the
opportunity to see another GTi going hard on the bendy stuff before
and the passive rear wheel steering is quite noticeable.
We only had the one noticeable incident involving a pothole 1 metre
wide by 1 metre deep, however Damian and myself managed to avoid it,
thankfully!
All in all I think everyone enjoyed themselves. I think everyone
would be happy to do it again - and hopefully we can pick up a few
more attendees next time.
