Well the dust has settled (literally) on another Sydney Drive Day, with our first combined 206GTi.net and Aussie Frogs event.
Gavin and Troy managed to organise a really interesting route that took us from our meeting point in Lane Cove, through Lithgow via the always enjoyable Bells Line of Road, and on to Tarana. For the record we had a total of 16 cars turn up, plus an ever present Mini (and an extra WRX joined us at Lithgow). The tally was 8 206 GTis, a 206 CC, 2 405 Mi16s, 3 306s, a 307 1.6 and a 307 HDi. As for how many cars returned home again is a story for another time...
It was really good to meet some of the Aussie Froggers, some long time posters I hadn't met before, plus a few of the newer people to the 206 GTi group. It was interesting to see the changes on the new GTi that Shane brought along - with its pearlescent black paint work, and it's always great to see some examples of the famous 405 Mi16 - a car that I've always wanted to have a play with but at this stage have never gotten around to doing anything about. I also had a chance to give out a few of 206GTi.net stickers, and it's almost time to head over to Adelaide to pick up some more!
It was a sterling route for us and the road and the scenery were spectacular. There were many opportunities to test out the car's abilities on some fabulous twisty stuff, with a small section of gravel halfway that challenged a few of us too.
All in all I thoroughly enjoyed the day - as I have every drive day I've been on - and I can only strongly encourage those of you that aren't sure to come along. It's lots of fun!
