Well, after discussion and people dropping out for family and fishing reasons, we finally agreed on a time and place to meet. Some got there early as they forgot about daylight savings ending (Hi Lui!) and some got there late because they got the place wrong (Hi David!).
There were five 206GTIs of various build and a Clio which we had a look and laugh at (Hi again David!). Bernie then took us on a drive upto the top of Lake Mountain via some spectacular scenery (see my in car shot above) which we had time to look at due to some slow drivers and lack of overtaking opportunities!
A nice BBQ lunch on Lake Mountain, once we found a BBQ that worked! We had a few long chats and some comparisons on the different versions of the Pug and what people had done. I had a quick fang in Nick and Domino's car (the Black car) which has the Eibach springs - I think they make a massive difference in grip. Hmmm. Also, their car has the newer seats which are much better than mine (a '99 spec car). We had a look at Richard's car which is a 2002 spec car - the differences are noticable inside!
If anyone wants to know how to put a CD changer in the glovebox, ask Nick, he had done a beautiful job with installing a Sony one.
Then some of us continued and others nicked off to do some fishing (Bye Richard!)
Bernie asked me to put in the quote that some (an unsuspecting member of the public) made
"I think they must be shooting a
commercial or something ...".
Bernie then took us down Lake Mountain at which point we stopped for a bit by the side of the road. Then Nick took us around a very windy piece of road. The extra grip (or at least the feeling of extra grip) was obvious as I certainly couldn't keep up with him. Kudos to Domino who managed to keep filming whilst Nick was driving.
At the bottom of the windy bit we stopped again before heading back to Lilydale where a little bit of underbonnet snooping went on comparing the newer and older cars.
Thanks to everyone who came along, it was most enjoyable.
