The first WA Peugeot GTi cruise for 2004.
A perfect blue-sky day blessed us once again.
6 cars attending. Peugeot 206GTi x2 | 206CC x1 | 205 x1 | 306 Dimma and a
Citroen Xsara VTS.
After waiting a while for those who had RSVP'd and failed to front, we
headed off about 30 mins
late ... not before the ranger approached us and reminded the group that
from 9:00am onwards
we would have to start paying for parking.
So a quick dash down the freeway to clear suburbia to the first regroup
The new concept of regroups was introduced at the last cruise and they
proved very
effective in keeping the group more in touch with each other. A regroup is
like a stop
point but they only last until the last car is caught up. There is little
time to get
out of your car to do much. As soon as the last car has arrived the group
heads off again.
We then headed for the tall Jarrah, Jarrahdale and Serpentine Dam. This
presented us with some excellent photo opportunities. May have been more
difficult
to manage if there had been 20+ cars, but the smaller number made it easier.
The local water authority even had reserved parking for us :) ...see
pictures.
The 2 way UHF handheld radios provided much laughter as each person
spotted
some very unusual sites (people in less then best shape, shouldn't be
collecting their
newspaper from the roadside without adequate clothing ... that's all that
needs to
be said).
Over the dam wall and onto the next stop ... "Floopers Peak Fuel Stop",
where the
name Floopers comes from is anyone's guess.
Then it was series of in-direct roads into Dwellingup .. It was a hot day
and from the
photo's you'll see that the axemen certainly had some work to do,
fortunately we got to watch
in the comfort of shade and a cold "brewski" in hand.
